- Hey, Jamie.
(slightly tense music) (singing bowl chiming) (tense music) - [Artist] I felt like I was wasting my time if I didn't connect my work with nature.
(filmstrip whirring) - [Speaker] We were there.
She was there.
- [Narrator] One of America's greatest sculptors seems to have been erased.
- Be the voice for these people.
The pictures are there, they're historic already, so you can't go back in time and shoot that.
- [Narrator] But where does a story really begin?
(speaker speaking in Japanese) - [Narrator] And does it ever really end?
- [Artist] And there was a growing intensity to tell stories ourselves, and not let the mainstream society dictate to us what we should see and believe.
(speaker speaking in Japanese) - I can tell when an artist loves me by what they create.
Augusta Savage was very much in tune with everyday people.
- [Speaker] They're really special people to have persevered like that.
- We're all here in the gallery.
- All the art that you've made, it's all framed.
- [Narrator] You know, all stories never end.
