Erica Ayisi is an Indigenous Affairs multimedia reporter for PBS Wisconsin’s "Here & Now" and ICT (formerly Indian Country Today). Ayisi has worked an independent journalist reporting on diverse communities throughout the United States and internationally. Her work with PBS began with "Lost to History"—a documentary about a Black and Indigenous whaler in Rhode Island.
Ayisi is an award-winning journalist, earning a "Salute to Excellence" award by the National Association of Black Journalists for her report on a Jamaican woman making political history. Her work on coastal erosion in Ghana was featured at the African Investigative Journalism Conference in South Africa. She a two-time Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting Grantee receiving funding for international reporting.
Ayisi has also worked as a local news reporter for Spectrum News 1 focusing on immigrant communities in Massachusetts. She is also a former media literacy and English educator.
Ayisi is a Massachusetts native. She received her communication arts degrees from New York Institute of Technology. In her free time, she enjoys exploring Wisconsin, spin cycle classes and Jeopardy.
