William Casey Crump on consumption advisories for fish and deer harvested near Stella.

William Casey Crump:
That's our concern out here, that was some of the concerns that were addressed. The other concerns that were addressed, of course, were back in September. They issued some health advisories on eating fish from the Moen Lake Chain and deer consumption. Out here, we live out here in the country because we like to fish, we like to hunt. We do those things. Now they're telling us again where CWD — chronic wasting disease — was in our deer, and so we had to be careful of what deer we ate. We have all these restrictions on — now they're telling us there's PFAS in the deer and we shouldn't eat the livers. Well, a lot of folks ate the livers out here for a lot of years, and a lot of folks consume deer, venison out here. I do — I have a freezer full of venison. That's how I fed my family for years. We live off of the deer — venison and sausage and hamburgers — same way with the fish. We all fish out here, we all eat fish. We all eat fish probably a couple times a week in some cases. That's what we live out here for, and now they're telling us that we should not eat any fish on our Moen Lake Chain, which is our biggest chain of lakes out here. That's our lakes that we fish. And so there was concerns from a lot of individuals about that. That's something new they just put out. There wasn't a lot of answers tonight, I think, that really address people's concerns. It's still something new. So again, those are the three main issues — the water, the soil and then the wildlife consumption.
