The 29th annual PBS Wisconsin Garden & Landscape Expo provides attendees with a lush, midwinter oasis Feb. 11-13 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or still cultivating your green thumb, find inspiration for your growing season from beautiful botanical exhibits and more than 100 free seminars and demonstrations.
Garden & Landscape Expo will be a masked event. All attendees are required to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth. Thank you for your cooperation with this important safety requirement.
Anyone who is feeling unwell or showing any symptoms of illness should not attend Garden & Landscape Expo. Anyone who has recently been diagnosed with COVID-19, has recently had direct contact with an individual diagnosed with or suspected to have COVID-19, or is displaying symptoms commonly associated with COVID-19 should not attend Garden & Landscape Expo. We will continuously monitor for updates from health officials.

“Cultivating Plant Homes” – Nika Vaughan, Plant Salon
Self-described plant collector Nika Vaughan joins us to discuss how houseplant care is a compromise between the native needs of your plants and the growing conditions you can provide in your home. She will also be representing her Chicago store, Plant Salon, in the Exhibitor Mall.
“Flowering Houseplants,” “Create a Tropical Paradise in Your Backyard, Patio or Deck” and “Year-Round Gardening with Flowering Shrubs” – Melinda Myers
Nationally known gardening expert, TV and radio host, author and columnist Melinda Myers will offer a variety of presentations on flowering houseplants, creating your own tropical paradise, and how to create season-long color with flowering shrubs. Melinda’s presentations are made possible with support from Grow Smart and Diggers Hotline.
“The Ecological Garden” – Ben Futa, Let’s Grow Stuff
Join Ben Futa, host of PBS Wisconsin’s digital series Let’s Grow Stuff, as he explores tools and strategies you can use to combat challenges posed by climate change. Ben will also greet visitors at the PBS Wisconsin booth throughout the weekend.
“Winter Cooking with Inga” – Inga Witscher, Around the Farm Table
Inga Witscher, host of PBS Wisconsin’s Around the Farm Table, will greet visitors at the PBS Wisconsin booth throughout the weekend. She’ll also host a fun and informative cooking demonstration of her favorite winter foods.
“Monona Terrace Today: Reimagining an Urban Frank Lloyd Wright Landscape for Tomorrow” – Tony Gomez-Phillips, Monona Terrace
Join Tony Gomez-Phillips, horticulturist at Monona Terrace, as he discusses the process of redesigning Madison’s downtown convention center’s landscape and gardens. Tony’s prairie-inspired plantings aim to connect Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture with a garden style that embodies his views of nature and how it interacts with humans. This presentation is sponsored by Wisconsin Hardy Plant Society.
“Honoring Our Ancestry” – Yusuf Bin–Rella, TradeRoots
Chef Yusuf Bin-Rella is a co-founder of TradeRoots and creator of the first Afro-Indigenous BIPOC farm at the Wisconsin State Capitol. Chef Yusuf takes us on a culinary journey and provides historical perspective throughout his cooking demonstrations.
“Prepare Now to Move Easier & Recover Faster this Season!” – Cassy Vieth, Quick Fit With Cassy
Cassy Vieth, host of PBS Wisconsin’s digital series Quick Fit With Cassy, is a fitness educator and instructor in Wisconsin. In addition to meeting guests at the PBS Wisconsin Booth on Saturday, she will lead two gardener-focused stretching stage demonstrations. Stretch and strengthen those hibernating muscles so you can have your best gardening and landscape season yet!
“The Indigenous Garden Project at Olbrich Botanical Gardens: Exploring Culture and Building Community with Plants Important to Midwestern Indigenous Peoples” – Rita Peters & Erin Presley
Join Rita Peters (Ho-Chunk) and Erin Presley, Olbrich Botanical Gardens horticulturist, as they recount their experience growing Olbrich’s Indigenous Garden in 2021, highlighting food plants important in Midwestern Indigenous culture.
“The Garden as a Healing Space” – Chalchiuhkoatl Kardós
Chalchiuhkoatl Kardós will cultivate conversation on how the garden is a healing space and why increasing access is vital to our communities and neighborhoods. Presented in English and Spanish, they will share information on healing plant relatives, Indigenous plant kin and intentional garden design.
The PBS Wisconsin Garden & Landscape Expo is presented by PBS Wisconsin and University of Wisconsin-Madison Horticulture Division of Extension. All proceeds from Garden & Landscape Expo support PBS Wisconsin.
