- Two moons and a raging river Saddled up by the pinyon fire Drove out to the edge of the pueblo Bought a drum from a man who cried And the children's show is on the ceiling And the way that you hold my hand And I yelled and I didn't know the reason But I knew that you'd understand Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Some things take time, I know they do Some things take time, I know they do I hope our time will never go I hope our time will never go Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Will we go like the woolly mammoth Or the de do do?
Gone like the Bachman's warbler Disappeared like the melting snow Little Mariana fruit bats Or the bridled white-eye bird Or will we keep on running Like the sound of the buffalo herd?
That Sky Redhawk recorded Out on his cousin's farm Up north in Minnesota He tied the recorder in the yard Up to a gatepost waiting Slept out in a tent to hear The rumble of the big stampede That one day magically appeared Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Some things take time, I know they do Some things take time I hope our time will never go I hope our time will never go Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the buffalo And I want us to be like that Running wild and running free 'This year tried to kill us, baby Well, good luck trying, you can't catch me And I'll jump off this cliff with you If it means we will survive 'Cause we drove out to the desert Just to leave the past behind And our footsteps fall in shadows Treading light down the canyon trail And the sun is barely rising And the stars like a wedding veil And I cannot lie to you 'Cause you can read my mind So I think I'll try with you Some things just take more time Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Some things take time, I know they do Some things take time, I know they do I hope our time will never go I hope our time will never go Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Some things take time, I know they do Some things take time I hope our time will never go I hope our time will never go Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Some things take time, I know they do Some things take time I hope our time will never go I hope our time will never go Two weeks just to catch the buffalo Two weeks just to catch the [ Cheers and applause ] This is really a dream come true to finally have the honor of filming in Austin City Limits.

- My baby wanna ride On a big smokestack My baby wanna ride And she ain't coming back Why don't you understand it?
Man, you don't even know She's just a modern bandit Regular dynamo My baby on a plane My baby on the road My baby on a train Well, she just gotta go Why don't you understand it?
Man, you don't even know She's just a modern bandit Regular dynamo Well, she lived up in the city But she gotta roam Couldn't make it in the country 'Cause she felt all alone Why don't you understand it?
Man, don't you even know?
She's just a modern bandit Regular dynamo My baby wanna ride On the big smokestack My baby wanna ride And she ain't coming back Why don't you understand it?
Man, you don't even know She's just a modern bandit Regular dynamo [ Cheers and applause ] - Hold my head like a live wire Duck quick, now I hear gunfire Caught somewhere in the space between Do you love me and do you love me?
Everything is advancing I love to see you out dancing There's women up in the mountains We could be up there if we could get up there Say goodbye to America I want to see it dissolve I can't be a poster boy for the great American fall Now I'm out and I'm prowling You make me want to start growling You will live forever as this bombshell in my mind I know that it's dangerous But I want to see you undress Wrap you up in the bomb shelter of my feather bed Eileen, I must be living twice Colossus of roads, Buz blur in the night Cowboy hat and a cigarette Grease marker in my leather vest Let's go paint the oilcans Write our names on a grain of sand No one will remember us like I will remember us Meet me down in the Castro We'll pretend it's 1985 For we were a twinkle in our great-grandfather's eyes Children forever In the end Of the night, baby, of the night Of the night, baby, of the night In the night, baby, in the night In the night, baby, in the night [ Cheers and applause ] Snake plants, Florida water I only wanted ever be a good daughter Soft hands, gold rings Try to remember most everything Like feeding grapefruits to the cows On my belly while I'm laughing out loud Bathing suit on a two-day drive Malaria, you can't sleep at night Lemon tree and a mango for the baby Record player, you can call me Sister Sadie Gonna cut a rope and tie her to the tree When the hurricane comes, hurricane comes I know your face, I know your smell I know that you were living in hell Pee in the bushes while I wait for a train Under the bridge when it starts to rain I never got to ride the Sunset Route But I drank enough 100-proof Campfire on the Superfund site Garbage island... in the moonlight I play my song for the barrel of freaks And we go shoplifting when it's time to eat They don't even really know my name I'm so happy that we escaped from where we came Uh-huh Tattoo with a needle and thread Most of our old friends are dead So test your drugs, remember Narcan There's a war on the people, what don't you understand?
There's fentanyl in everything Don't become an angel with a broken wing Oh, we need you back down here on Earth Nothing is as painful as birth Well, time flies when you're getting old But I was born with a baby-boy soul Maybe someday, I'll see you again In a field, a war, a kingdom of sand Maybe we could smile again or Maybe we could dance again, I'd Kiss your lips, I'd hold your hands, oh Maybe we could dance again, well I was young when I left home I never stopped running, used to think I was alone Nothing will stop me now Nothing will stop me now Oh, nothing will stop me now Yeah, nothing can stop, nothing can stop me No, oh, oh, oh No, oh, oh, oh No, oh, oh, oh No, oh, oh, oh Nothing will stop me now [ Cheers and applause ] Thank you again for being here with us.

[ Cheers and applause ] Hiding from the cops In Ogallala, Nebraska Getting dropped off On a county line You were so mean But I had to keep walking We walked that straight On Highway 30 time And I was in love With my American footprint Tracks of blood Left out in the snow Silent beacon Burnt by electrical fencing Half-moon rising Headlights down below Now, what do I do With this terrible feeling?
Been all these years, I'm driving The same highway stretch You know that scene At the end of "Titanic"?
Well, I was the one who's Still playing on the deck Oh, meet me back In an Austin bookstore [ Cheers and applause ] Down the stairs In the poetry aisle We'll get lost In a city forgotten But I don't like change And I hate goodbyes Now, what do you turn into When all reality's blending An image of A photocopy of a lie I used to think I was born Into the wrong generation But now I know I made it right on time To watch the world burn To watch the world burn To watch the world burn with a tear in my eye To watch the world burn To watch the world burn To watch the world burn I'm right on time Oh, meet me In the autumn In the garden Well, well Sing it with me.
Oh, meet me In the autumn In the garden Well, well Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh [ Cheers and applause ] [ Cheers and applause continue ] It's been a wild ride.
I'm originally from the Bronx and I left home really young.
I left home at 17 and I was a traveling, like, runaway punk kid.
I rode freight trains.
I was, like, obsessed with Woody Guthrie and beat poetry and was like, "I'm running away with the circus," basically.
And, eventually, I ended up in New Orleans.
To come to New Orleans and be like, "I know a couple of chords on this guitar and I'm playing the washboard," you know, I learned about how music is for grieving, it's for celebration, it's for protest, it's for life.
It's something that you put into practice and it's also a community act.
So I think that's the biggest lesson that New Orleans gave me.
And also, it's where rock 'n' roll was birthed.
You know, there's gospel influence.
There's some Cuban influence.
There's just, like, so much in the beat of New Orleans.
My background in punk music when I was a kid, there's this funny bridge where you find Johnny Cash and you're like, "This is punk, but it's also folk music and it's also country and it's also rock 'n' roll," you know?
And a major thing about when I found Johnny Cash when I was younger is that, much like punk music, he stood for the underdog.
It was this idea of like, "I'm here to represent the people on the street that inspire me that don't follow me onstage," you know?
So I think that's always been a part of what I do.
