[ Cheers and applause ] Now, this song is the title of my record and the tour that we've been on, but it was just a really humbling last few years as humans, and I was also touched by that.
I had my son at the very beginning of COVID, and then all touring got canceled, so it was just a lot of new things for me -- motherhood, not being able to tour, and just kind of finding an identity outside of music.
And anyways, it's a journey, and it's gonna be one forever, but this is how I got humbled.
And this is called "Humble Quest."
Haven't looked up in a while Been bitin' my tongue behind a smile Fallin' on swords that I can't see Poison my well on the daily Got easier not to ask Just kept hittin' my head on the glass I was so nice till I woke up I was polite till I spoke up I'm on a humble quest And damn, I do my best Not gonna hold my breath 'Cause I still haven't found it yet No, I still haven't found it yet The line between fulfilled and full of myself I'm tryna find it and I might need some help Standin' up was enough of a battle How do I not cast a shadow?
I'm a hell of a hassle I'm on a humble quest And damn, I do my best Not gonna hold my breath 'Cause I still haven't found it yet No, I still haven't found it yet Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh Ooh-ooh I'm on a, I'm on a I'm on a humble quest I'm on a, I'm on a I'm on a humble quest Not gonna hold my breath I'm on a humble quest And damn, I do my best Not gonna hold my breath 'Cause I still haven't found it yet, oh-oh I'm on a humble quest And damn, I do my best Not gonna hold my breath 'Cause I still haven't found it yet No, I still haven't found it yet Oh-oh-oh Oh-ooh [ Cheers and applause ] Thank you.
[ Playing "Background Music" ] Maybe we got a ways to go, a lot of road ahead of us And who really knows how many songs we got left in us And so it goes, curtains will close Whatever's next after the show Just for now, play it loud, let the sound deafen us We got time but we're only human We call it forever but we know that there's an end to it You and I can dance our way through it And I'll love you till all that we are Is background music Maybe all we'll ever be to them in a hundred years Is three minutes in a car, in a bar, that says we were here If that's you and me when it's all said and done Hard not to see we're the lucky ones Not everybody gets to leave a souvenir We got time But we're only human We call it forever but we know that there's an end to it You and I can dance our way through it And I'll love you till all that we are Is background music Ooh-ooh We got time But we're only human We call it forever but we know that there's an end to it You and I can dance our way through it And I'll love you till all that we are And I'll love you till all that we are Is background music Ooh-ooh [ Cheers and applause ] Thank you so much.
[ Playing "Nervous" ] You make me nervous Put my reservations out of service Makin' me feel like Every secret's worth it, it's workin' I'm tryna hide my desire below the surface You make me wonder How this part of me went undiscovered Takin' my heart out of its zone of comfort, like Summer By the time that it's gone, you want another You make me out of control Out of our clothes Motion in slow, yeah You take me, you take me in my feelings Through the ceiling Leaving my inhibitions exposed You make me nervous Every little move you make, you make on purpose Tracin' my body like you're learning cursive Researchin', just how high your touch can take a person You make me out of control Out of our clothes Motion in slow, yeah You take me, you take me in my feelings Through the ceiling Leaving my inhibitions exposed You make me nervous [ Guitar solo ] You make me out of control Out of our clothes Motion in slow, yeah You take me, you take me in my feelings Through the ceiling Leaving my inhibitions exposed You make me out of control Out of our clothes Motion in slow, yeah You take me, you take me in my feelings Through the ceiling Leaving my inhibitions exposed You make me nervous Put my reservations out of service I'm tryna hide my desire below the surface You make me nervous [ Cheers and applause ] Y'all.
[ Playing "I Could Use a Love Song" ] Usually a drink will do the trick Take the edge off quick, sittin' in the dark With a shared cigarette Seeing eye-to-eye and heart-to-heart But maybe I'm just gettin' old Used to work, but now it don't A long gone drive You know the kind where you take a turn And you don't know why But it clears your mind, a surefire cure I need somethin' stronger That'll last a little longer I could use a love song That takes me back, just like that When it comes on To a time when I wouldn't roll my eyes At a guy and a girl Who make it work in a world That for me so far just seems to go so wrong Yeah, I could use, I could use a love song I wish I didn't know so much I peeked behind the curtain Now that magic rush Feels like a trick that isn't workin' But I haven't lost all hope yet Yeah, it's hurtin', but it ain't dead, no I could use a love song That takes me back, just like that When it comes on To a time when I wouldn't roll my eyes At a guy and a girl Who make it work in a world That for me so far just seems to go so wrong Yeah, I could use, I could use a love song Give me a sign or a rhyme or a reason Just somethin' that I can believe in I could use a love song That takes me back, just like that When it comes on To a time when I wouldn't roll my eyes At a guy and a girl Who make it work in a world That for me so far just seems to go so wrong Yeah, I could use Yeah, I could use, I could use a love song Ooh-ooh-ooh [ Cheers and applause ] Thank y'all.
This is a huge honor, to be finally playing this.
I grew up watching this.
So I'm not gonna cry.
So the day I found out I was pregnant, I was going to a co-write with the Love Junkies, which are Lori McKenna, Hillary Lindsey, and Liz Rose, and they're all amazing songwriters on their own, but then when they write as a trio, they're called the Love Junkies.
But they're also all three mothers, and it was just such fate that I got to write with them the day that I found out I was having my son.
And so we wrote this song.
And my son's not here, but Annie is, like, very pregnant.
Yeah, she's 32 weeks today.
[ Cheers and applause ] My God.
Like, by the time this airs, he'll be here.
Yeah.
But I kind of just dedicate this to her son, because he's on stage with us every night when I sing this.
This is called "Hummingbird."
You're Mexico in the winter You're Tennessee in the spring You come and go like a whisper Leaving me the most beautiful dream - Hummingbird, hummingbird You're the sound of these strings Hummingbird, hummingbird, on my skin rest your wings I'll hold you in my loving arms but I'll let you fly free Hummingbird, hummingbird, now your heart beats in me - I've been waitin' all my life for your colors And I've been watering the flowers while you're gone I've been lookin' out the window for a glimmer Not knowing you've been with me all along - Hummingbird, hummingbird You're the sound of these strings Hummingbird, hummingbird, on my skin rest your wings I'll hold you in my loving arms but I'll let you fly free Hummingbird, hummingbird, now your heart beats in me [ Cheers and applause ] Oh, oh - I'll never try to cage you - Oh, oh - Take the sky that God gave you Hummingbird, hummingbird You're the sound of these strings Hummingbird, hummingbird, on my skin rest your wings - I'll hold you in my loving arms but I'll let you fly free Hummingbird, hummingbird, now your heart beats in me - Hummingbird, hummingbird, now your heart beats in me [ Cheers and applause ] Thank y'all so much.
[ Playing "Detour" ] Used to take the roads without a twist or bend Drivin' with my eyes closed, I could see the end I was goin' somewhere Thought I'd find it when I got there Not supposed to cry when all the skies are blue I was disappointed when I saw the view So I threw my map away And that's the way I stumbled into you I don't mind, I don't mind a detour I don't mind the wrong way home I'm never lost long as your heart isn't in the dark And as long as I still get to be yours I don't mind a detour I'd be lyin' if I said I wasn't scared You seem so okay with being unprepared We'll take our time, enjoy the ride If it's around the corner, I don't even care I don't mind, I don't mind a detour I don't mind the wrong way home I'm never lost long as your heart isn't in the dark And as long as I still get to be yours I don't mind a detour Ooh, ooh, ooh Ooh, ooh, ooh Ooh, ooh Might take the long way, it ain't the wrong way Might take the long way It ain't the wrong way home It ain't the wrong way home Might take the long way, it ain't the wrong way Might take the long way It ain't the wrong way home It ain't the wrong way home Hm, I don't mind, I don't mind a detour I don't mind the wrong way home I'm never lost long as your heart isn't in the dark And as long as I still get to be yours I don't mind a detour Ooh Ah, oh Oh, oh Ooh [ Cheers and applause ] Aww, thank you.
All right, Austin, let's pick this up a little bit.
Hey!
La-a-a-a-a-di-da La-a-a-a-a-di-da If I had a dollar every time that I swore you off And a twenty every time that I picked up when you called And a crisp new Benjamin For when you're here then gone again And a dollar every time I was right about you after all Boy, I'd be rich, head to toe Prada Benz in the driveway, yacht in the water Vegas at the Mandarin, high-roller gambling Me and Diddy drippin' diamonds like Marilyn No, I wouldn't be drowning in all your IOUs Every promise you made me would have some real value 'Cause all the little lies rolling off your lips Is money falling from the sky Well...I'd be rich La-a-a-a-a-di-da I'd be rich La-a-a-a-a-di-da If I had a dime every time that you crossed my mind Well, I'd basically be sitting on a big-ass pile of dimes And all the times that you make my heart feel cheap I might as well have won the lottery All of this pain and me cursing your name Would just turn into dollar signs 'Cause I'd be rich, head to toe Prada Benz in the driveway, yacht in the water Vegas at the Mandarin, high-roller gambling Me and Diddy drippin' diamonds like Marilyn No, I wouldn't be drowning in all your IOUs Every promise you made me would have some real value 'Cause all the little lies rolling off your lips Is money falling from the sky Well...I'd be rich La-a-a-a-a-di-da I'd be rich La-a-a-a-a-di-da Well, I told myself I wouldn't do this again But how much you wanna bet I'm-a do this again?
Rich, head to toe Prada Benz in the driveway, yacht in the water Vegas at the Mandarin, high-roller gambling Me and Diddy drippin' diamonds like Marilyn No, I wouldn't be drowning in all your IOUs Every promise you made me would have some real value 'Cause all the little lies rolling off your lips Is money falling from the sky Well...I'd be rich La-a-a-a-a-di-da I'd be rich La-a-a-a-a-di-da Ooh, I'd be rich La-a-a-a-a-di-da Well, dang, I'd be rich La-a-a-a-a-di-da [ Cheers and applause ] Thank you so much.
We have a few more.
This is called "Good Friends."
Thank you, Austin.
[ Cheers and applause ] Sometimes I don't understand you Sometimes you don't understand me Bridges are burnin' all over, but not on our street Sometimes you take me for granted Sometimes I can be backhanded But you got my back while I'm holdin' your hand What else do we need?
'Cause we're good friends, we don't ask why We just show up at each other's house Unannounced, in the middle of the night We got history, no conditions You don't ever have to worry, yeah I'll keep you sturdy, 'cause we're good friends, yeah Mmm Some folks are fair-weather, some just drift in and out At my worst or my better, you always stick around And if we live to a hundred or through to the next drink I swear to God on my heart, nobody'll know you like me 'Cause we're good friends, we don't ask why We just show up at each other's house Unannounced, in the middle of the night We got history, no conditions You don't ever have to worry, yeah I'll keep you sturdy, 'cause we're good friends Yeah, eh, eh Too much love, too much dirt, too much time Wouldn't change, couldn't leave if we tried Oh, too much love, too much dirt, too much time We wouldn't change, couldn't leave if we tried 'Cause we're good friends Yeah, we're good friends Yeah, eh, eh 'Cause we're good friends, we don't ask why We just show up at each other's house Unannounced, in the middle of the night It's no mystery, it's a given You don't ever have to worry, yeah I'll keep you sturdy, 'cause we're good friends Oh, good friends Oh, good friends [ Cheers and applause ] Texas, thank you so much.
Thank you, "Austin City Limits," for having me.
It's a really big deal.
And my parents are listening to the livestream right now.
[ Cheering ] But I'll come back any time y'all invite me.
This was really fun.
And thank you for taking this song we're about to do to heights I never knew existed with music and just making it even more poignant to me.
So sing along if you know it.
This is called "The Bones."
Thank y'all so much.
We're in the homestretch Of the hard times We took a hard left But we're all right Yeah, life sure can try to put love through it, but We built this right, so nothing's ever gonna move it When the bones are good, the rest don't matter Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter Let it rain 'cause you and I remain the same When there ain't a crack in the foundation Baby, I know any storm we're facing Will blow right over while we stay put The house don't fall when the bones are good Oh, oh Call it dumb luck, but baby, you and I Can't even mess it up Though we both tried Oh, it won't always go the way we planned it But the wolves came and went and we're still standing When the bones are good, the rest don't matter Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter Let it rain 'cause you and I remain the same When there ain't a crack in the foundation Baby, I know any storm we're facing Will blow right over while we stay put The house don't fall when the bones are good When the bones are good - Bones are good, the rest, the rest don't matter Baby, it don't really matter - Paint could peel, the glass, the glass could shatter - Oh, the glass, the glass could shatter - Bones are good, the rest, the rest don't matter - Ooh - Paint could peel, the glass, the glass could shatter - Yeah - When the bones are good, the rest don't matter Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter - Oh, yeah Let it rain, let it rain Whoo When there ain't a crack in the foundation Baby, I know any storm we're facing Will blow right over while we stay put The house don't fall when the bones are good Ooh Ooh [ Cheers and applause ] Thank you.
[ Playing "My Church" ] I've cussed on a Sunday I've cheated and I've lied I've fallen down from grace A few too many times But I find holy redemption When I put this car in drive Roll the windows down And turn up The dial [ Cheers and applause ] "ACL"!
Hey!
Can I get a hallelujah?
Can I get an amen?
Feels like the Holy Ghost running through ya When I play the highway FM I find my soul revival Singin' every single verse Yeah, I guess that's my church When Hank brings the sermon And Cash leads the choir It gets my cold, cold heart burnin' Hotter than a ring of fire When this wonderful world gets heavy And I need to find my escape I just keep the wheels rolling, radio scrolling Until my sins wash away Can I get a hallelujah?
Can I get an amen?
Feels like the Holy Ghost running through ya When I play the highway FM I find my soul revival Singin' every single verse Yeah, I guess that's my church [ Guitar solo ] All right, Austin.

[ Cheers and applause ] - You make me out of control Out of our clothes Motion in slow, yeah You take me, you take me in my feelings Through the ceiling Leaving my inhibitions exposed You make me nervous Put my reservations out of service I'm tryna hide my desire below the surface You make me nervous
