[ Cheers and applause ] My old friend, you know you're good to see How I've missed the way you look at me You bring to mind so many memories Of how things were and how they couldn't be Because we never did see eye to eye Still we loved each other, God knows why Now as light fades in the western sky All our chances seem to pass us by Know I've always wished for you good luck And as I rummaged through the rust and dust To save myself I said it ended thus And thought of you and me, no more as us No, we never did see eye to eye Still we loved each other, God knows why Now as light fades in the western sky All our chances seem to pass us by I said before and now the long time's come To wait, forget, and still remember some To hold our heads above the laughing tongues Falling from faces of the mocking ones So my old friend, you know you're good to see You bring to mind such lovely memories Oh, how I've missed the way you look at me [ Cheers and applause ] [ "12th of June" playing ] Before spring turned into summer After night turned into day They were born a Monday morning In the days just after May In the days just after May By the branch at San Jacinto Play for me a happy tune Know of all the days I loved I loved best the 12th of June I loved best the 12th of June He was strong across his shoulders She was delicate of skin And their mother lay there ashen As we held them to our breasts As we held them to our breasts By the branch at San Jacinto Play for me a happy tune Know of all the days I loved I loved best the 12th of June I loved best the 12th of June All I have I gladly give them All I am they will exceed And one thing I know for sure If they improve the likes of me They make a better man of me So to my father and my mother And all our fathers long before There are those who walk above us Who'll remember that we were They will remember that we were And to these beautiful two children And to my sweet and tender wife I will love you three forever Though I fly beyond this life Though I fly beyond this life By the branch at San Jacinto Play for me a happy tune Know of all the days I loved I loved best the 12th of June By the branch at San Jacinto When they lay me in my tomb Know of all the days I loved There are so many days I've loved Know of all the days I loved I loved best the 12th of June I loved best the 12th of June [ Cheers and applause ] I made this song up for my little boy.

The Large Band.
[ Cheers and applause ] [ Cheers and applause continue ] I always thought I wanted to be a dad, but I had no idea how much I'd enjoy it.
Having children... it was just -- just the most fun I've ever had and just the biggest blessing I've ever had.
My children were born on the 12th of June, and as their first birthday approached, I just thought about it extra.
The idea of it, the words kept sort of bothering me and wouldn't -- wouldn't let me stop thinking about them.
It turned into that song, "12th of June."
I work with musicians who are some of the best musicians in the world, and I feel so fortunate and inspired, you know, to -- to step on stage with Leland Sklar and Russ Kunkel and Dean Parks and Jim Cox and all the other wonderful musicians I get to -- get to work with.
To have Francine Reed come in and perform with us after retiring means the world to me.
I think life is inspiring.
You know, there -- Gosh, there's something interesting to see and something to learn everywhere you look, you know?
People are fascinating.
People that you meet in your everyday life... can inspire you... can make you want to write a song.
So, you know, really all you have to do is look around.
Look around and pay attention.
And right now, you know, in these last five years in my life, when I look around, you know, I see those little ones, and, yeah, it's really been fun.
And they've -- they've given me... they've given me lots of song so far.
- And children come into this world Without a stitch on boy or girl Pants is overrated Pants is overrated Pants is overrated Yes, yes Pants is overrated Pants is overrated Pants is overrated Yes, yes Pants is overrated Pants is overrated Pants is overrated Yes, yes Pants is overrated Pants is overrated Pants is overrated Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
