Eddie Silas:
I'd just seen the movie "Terminator," and yes, I'm that old, right? "Terminator" part one. So, I'd just seen that movie, and the part where he's riding on the bike, on his motorcycle and he has the shotgun with one hand and he's just racking the slide, right? He shoots it, and he's racking the slide, he shoots it. I seen "Terminator" — I wanted to do the same thing, right? Because I just was influenced by that movie that I seen as a child, so when I found my father's shotgun, that was my chance to be the Terminator. So I'm down there, I'm just racking the slide, racking the slide. I had no idea I could have blew my head off. I could have shot through the floor. I could have did anything to injure myself or injure anybody else in that house. I was fortunate enough to walk away from that situation unharmed and nobody else was harmed. However, my father chose to hide a shotgun from me versus providing me with the education I needed to not do that, right? To keep a gun pointed in a safe direction, and also having the confidence as a child to walk up to my father and say, "Hey, I found the gun in the basement. Can you educate me on this subject matter?" Right? Having that confidence, so if anything, we want to breed those type of conversations in our community, 'cause if you look outside the community, you look at the Boy Scouts, you look at those different type of resources they have out there, right? However, in the city of Milwaukee, they do not, and that's what we want to do. We want to breed that type of confidence, like in families period, right? Because the nuclear family, it's going to have, it's a resource that has to happen, right? Or else you can destroy the family, if not.
