Meg Hamel | Director of Wisconsin Film Festival
After being born, raised and educated in Madison, the former history major developed a very cultured and global taste in film in the ’90s when she went to film festivals with friends she was visiting in New York and San Francisco. Since then, she has attended festivals around the world.
Meg became involved with the Wisconsin Film Festival as an event’s venue and logistics manager, before becoming interim festival director in 2006, and full time director in 2007.
Brian Standing | Director (Blink! Again)
Brian Standing founded Prolefeed Studios in 1997 to provide an independent forum for alternative news coverage, artistic expression and subversive political satire. His credits include the award-winning feature “War is Sell” the widely-seen documentary “Pedalphiles”, about a renegade gang of bicycling anarchists, and the ongoing documentary series “Scoop Perlman’s Guide to Art”. After bouncing around from his hometown in Albany, NY to Minneapolis, Boston, outback Australia, Austin, TX and Tomahawk, WI, Brian has finally settled down in Madison, WI, where he enjoys making Godzilla movies with his son, Shea and his wife, Lisa. Madison radio listeners know him from his work at WORT 89.9FM, including “In Our Backyard”, “The Eight O’Clock Buzz”, and local election coverage. He is also the curator and founder of Electric Eye Cinema, Madison’s DIY venue devoted exclusively to independent documentary film.
William Q. Hartin | Director (Dark Ways)
William Q. Hartin was born in northern IL and moved to Madison with his family when he was a child. He studied Film at Columbia College in Chicago and graduated with Honors from the University of Wisconsin ““ Milwaukee with a BA in Film. He has worked for WHA – Wisconsin Public Television, Purple Onion in Milwaukee and John Roach Projects. In 1997, he started his own independent video and film company, October Hill Projects. William has produced and directed numerous video and film projects, including documentaries, music videos, experimental pieces, Legacy videos, television shows, and fictional narratives. He’s worked on such films as NoNames, Svetlana About Svetlana, Novaman, and SHC (all have been in film festivals, the last of which is in this year’s WFF), and produced projects for Milwaukee County Department On Aging, The River Alliance of Wisconsin, and The Big Ten Network.
Brijetta Hall Waller | Director (At the Table)
Brijetta Hall Waller is a documentary filmmaker, educator, and web developer. Her documentaries have been screened at festivals nationally and internationally and have aired on several PBS stations. Brijetta recently produced and directed In My Room, a feature length documentary about the inner life of teen girls. She is currently president of Metta Productions, a video production and web development company based in Madison, WI.
Robb Thompson | Director (SHC)
Robb Thompson has been shooting, directing, editing and co-producing short films since 2008 as part of Alterity Productions. His love of photography naturally progressed into a commitment to film. In 2009 he obtained an Associate’s Degree in Video & Motion Graphics from Madison Media Institute (Madison, WI) following a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of WI (Madison, WI) in 2000. Although his talents include writing, acting, editing, and sound design, his focus is on directing. The pairing of precise talent and well-composed shots pervade all of his projects.
