“It didn’t occur to me until much later in life what an odd experience that was.”
Growing up near Verona, Wisconsin during the early 1950s, I attended Stoner School, a one-room country school. I distinctly remember having “art classes” over the radio, once a week through WHA. It didn’t occur to me until much later in life what an odd experience that was – to learn how to draw and experience art through a non-visual medium!
Nonetheless, it made an impression and indeed played a part in my becoming a theatre designer. Even though I moved far away from Wisconsin, I still have a great fondness for WHA and the pleasures it provided for me and my family.
