I realize that my education may have been at the expense of another person or multiple people.
I kept thinking they'll give me a book and then I'll know how to read.
It didn’t occur to me until much later in life what an odd experience that was.
My very favorite teacher, in addition to Mrs. Harper, came through the radio.
Then we all stood there and watched our school burn down.
We gathered together on the hill outside Music Hall and sang all the songs we had learned that year.
We didn't grow up in one grade, we grew up in the school.
To get to school was to get away from loneliness.
