Story Lab Submission
Get Tips
Telling your story can feel intimidating. Don’t let that stop you! If you are unsure about where to begin, read some Story Telling Tips.
Media
We welcome and encourage stories using a variety of media. Submit a written story in prose or poetry, an audio recording, a digital video file, new or archival photographs, a scanned cartoon or illustration. We also welcome pictures or scans of “artifacts” related to your story (e.g., a clip from your high school newspaper, a scan of a note you passed in junior high).
Include Visuals
Because the web is a visual medium, if you are submitting a written or audio story, we ask that you upload an accompanying photograph or illustration. If you are submitting solely visual material like a series of photographs or a video, use the “Your Story” text submission area to provide some background explanation or context. You might want to submit a series of photographs with accompanying text. This is fine! And if you need suggestions or help with any of this, please ask us.
Be original
Stories must be original, which means your writing, your voice, your photos, your work. If you are submitting the story and media on behalf of the author, submit your email address in that field, but be sure to clarify the author of the story.
