A word on Episode 3 from our resident Downton expert and guest contributor Analiese Smith:

I have to say, I was really looking forward to this episode. I am so excited about Mrs. Hughes’ upcoming wedding! Sadly, it seems the wedding is still getting away from her (who hasn’t been there?). One more reason we love her!

I’m also loving the sassy Mrs. Patmore. More of this, please! She is only outdone by the Dowager Countess, who has a nice dig about marriages as a nice transition to the drama upstairs.

I’m glad that Cora is able to set things straight with the reception location. Her character in the past few seasons has become a lot more active in trying to “make things right” and be a real peacemaker. She is all about bringing everyone back together and making sure everyone is happy under one roof. Sybil, Marigold … could Mr. Mason be next? If not, Daisy is sure to become unhinged!

Anna’s pregnancy is exciting news to be sure! Now we just have to cross our fingers that all goes well! The thought of Mr. Barrow’s departure is also equally exciting …

While I am totally engrossed in some of the “downstairs” subplots, I couldn’t care less about the spats between Spratt and Denker. What started out as an opportunity for some funny zingers has, in my opinion, grown too large and takes away time from other stories I care about more.

Plain and simple: I like Lady Edith. Let’s spend more time on her. I’m loving how she takes charge to get the magazine out in time and might also be finding someone to share in the fun.

The final wedding preparations were wonderful and certainly not spoiled by Cora’s fit. What a classy apology! The wedding and reception were also so happy, and Tom was certainly the icing on the cake!
