Exploring "EARTH A New Wild"

As our planet changes, the boundaries between man-made and wild spaces are evolving. Shifts in the population and the climate affect communities all over the globe, and the storms that punctuate our winters (Yeah, I’m talking about you, Polar Vortex and “Snowmageddon”) are just one aspect of how nature is evolving with and around us.
In one of my favorite new series, EARTH A New Wild, Doctor M. Sanjayan shows how the wild spaces of our planet are adapting to coexist with a growing human presence. In this riveting, funny and visually stunning show you’ll see baby pandas (ADORABLE) as they prepare to be re-introduced to the wild. You’ll learn about the importance of disappearing carnivores and scavangers all over the globe. You’ll get a glimpse of the transformative work that Jane Goodall is (still) doing, fighting, in her words, “so that in 10 years time, there’s something to save.” And that’s all in the first episode.
By the way, yes – you read that correctly: Dame Jane Morris Goodall is still out there making the world a better place. What have you done today? Microwaved a day-old scone and cruised Reddit? Oh no, that’s me… At any rate, if you’re a fan of series like Planet Earth and Cosmos, you’ll love EARTH A New Wild.
Check out this preview, and if you’re immediately hooked like I was, watch the first two episodes online or check out upcoming episodes Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Wisconsin Public Television for more fascinating looks at a very new and different wilderness that we’re seeing all over the globe.
