Friday nights just got a lot more interesting with the return of Director’s Cut and Director’s Cut Presents on Wisconsin Public Television, your home for independent film. Our sixth season offers you an amazing selection of independent films and entertaining interviews with fascinating directors, producer, actors, and writers. You will hear behind the scenes gossip, get filmmaking advice, and see some familiar faces from TV and the big screen.

Directors-Cut-Wisconsin-Public-TelevisionDocumentaries make a strong showing in this season. You will get a glimpse into the transgender music scene, experience being homeless and struggling to survive in Madison, get an in-depth examination of how multinational companies use the U.S. tax system to their advantage, take an amazing journey down the Ganges and find out why a bunch of guys thought they could snowmobile from Minnesota to Moscow.

If a good narrative or drama is more to your liking, we have you covered. Take a 1,000-mile canoe trip down the Mississippi with an estranged father and son desperately trying to save their relationship, watch how an invention to bring back loved ones from the dead instead turns out to be a conduit to terror, jump ahead to a post apocalyptic viral outbreak and see how far you would go to be reunited with the one you love, and get drawn into a decades-old blood feud that enmeshes everyone involved into a cycle of vengeance and atonement.

Everyone can use a good laugh and we hope you do. College friends attending a private school in Chicago resort to unusual methods to raise money and at the same time get revenge against their malevolent teacher. And do you know the film “Meet the Parents”? We’ll show the original film that inspired Steven Soderbergh to turn that story into a Hollywood blockbuster.

Grab a bowl of popcorn, turn off the lights, and take a seat. Director’s Cut is back. Director’s Cut airs Friday at 10pm, followed by Director’s Cut Presents at 10:30pm.
