Watch Cook’s Country From America’s Test Kitchen 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 on Wisconsin Public Television.

Thursday nights on WPT have sort of evolved intoChristopher Kimball in the Test Kitchen cooking show night…and when you think about it, it’s a really great night to find inspiration for a new recipe from Cook’s Country or to discover a unique local restaurant on Wisconsin Foodie because, with the weekend looming, you’ll have time to dive right in to your new culinary adventure.

I had my own such adventure about a year ago when I saw Christopher Kimball taste testing chocolate chips. That very weekend I was able to take his advice and try several of his techniques for making the best chocolate chip cookies (and yes Ghiradelli 60% cacao is still my favorite chip).

Thursday night’s Cook’s Country won’t be as sweet, but it will appeal to those with savory appetites as the show offers tips for making roast beef and whipped potatoes, and for cooking with salt. Be sure to catch it after the premiere episode of Wisconsin Foodie at 7 when Foodie and Alterra Coffee embark on a journey to Latin America to discover the source of a cup of coffee.

Until then, whet your appetite with this video highlighting some favorite recipes from the Test Kitchen.
