Watch Lidia Celebrates America: Holiday Tables and Traditions at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 on Wisconsin Public Television.

There are many different holiday traditions, crossing the gamut of cultures, families and faiths. Through them all, though, there is one standard — food. Culinary wonders are a keystone to most holiday traditions. In this special, join PBS celebrity chef Lidia Bastianich on a tour of many of these diverse traditions in the United States. In New York City, sit down at the table of a big Italian Christmas dinner of stuffed lobster, linguini and mozzarella with peppers. Then, travel to San Antonio for a delicious Mexican-America Christmas Day celebration filled with sweets. Enjoy traditional pot stickers at a Chinese New Year party in San Francisco and beef brisket and chicken soup with matzo balls at a Passover Seder back in New York.

What are your favorite holiday dining traditions? Are you looking forward to trying anything new this year?

Before watching this show, get to know Bastianich a bit more in this interview from WGBH in Boston.
