- This feels like the moment my life is going to begin.
(upbeat music) - On Saturdays, we would get a bunch of drummers and start hitting.
It's too loud.
It ain't been loud for 20 years.
Now y'all talking about it's loud.
(upbeat music) - [Person] I was the first Black person to ever show at 57th Street, Madison Avenue, and I've never been able to get a gallery since.
(upbeat music) - [Person] Memories are erased, and I think that the role of the artist is to create that file of memory.
- [Person] I realized art had to capture the struggle of our people.
- Good storyteller needs a good story listener.
- You're never gonna stop fighting for your land.
You're gonna pass this fight on to your children.
(bird cawing) - The story relies on the folks listening and the willingness of folks to be changed by a story.
