About this show

Hosted by University of Wisconsin-Extension specialist in wildlife management Robert S. Ellarson, this WHA radio and tv series introduced children in grades 3-9 to Wisconsin’s animals and ecosystems. Using taxidermy models and storytelling, 'Wonderful World of Nature' explored how wildlife adapt to their environments — connecting young viewers to the natural world through education and wonder.

'Wonderful World of Nature' is one of PBS Wisconsin's — known then as WHA-TV — earliest educational children's television programs of the 1950s. Originally recorded on 16mm film — part of WHA's 'School of the Air' — it has been preserved, digitized and rendered accessible online thanks to a generous donation from Dr. Henry Anderson.
