Up Close and Personal with Whips
>> Hi, I'm Joe Astrouski, a producer for Wisconsin Life. Every now and then when we go out on a story we end up becoming part of the story. That happened when we went out a few weeks ago to do a story on a world champion whipcracker. Have a look.

>> Now when the whip cracks it is a sonic boom. It's the very end of the whip going supersonic. The crack of a whip actually is powerful enough that it can cut flesh and break bone. However, the crack of the whip happens at a very small localized area. It is possible to crack the whip all the way past a person's body and than have the whip wrap around them. It'll just wrap around harmlessly, however it will look as though the person got hit with the whip. This is something sometimes called the Hollywood Wrap. Joe, if you'll just put your arms up. >> The Hollywood Wrap. >> Put your arms up, and your faith in me. We'll see how it goes.
