Wisconsin Voter Stories: Cate Zeuske
Cate Zeuske
My grandmother actually turned 21 100 years ago when the 19th amendment was ratified, and women gained the right to vote in the presidential fall election. My grandmother very proudly walked into the polling place and cast her very first ballot. And of course, I think she was very much aware of the many women, and many of them Wisconsin women, that fought so hard for so many decades to try to get the vote for women, that she took the responsibility very, very seriously. She understood the responsibility that was given, the belief that you are going to be part of something bigger than yourself. And how it really is a responsibility that we carry with us forward.
