So, a huge reason why I, I mean, really started writing songs in the first place is my Aunt Marci. She’s the one who taught me how to write a song.

And we were laughing ’cause we both have our songwriting books on the piano, like our little keepers of all of the songs.

The last song I’m gonna share with you today has a wild story, and many of you heard me tell it. I landed in LA with Trevor, who many of you know in the audience, Trevor Jarvis, in Peridot.

And we got together with a writer, and we had a brief for Grey’s Anatomy, TV show, and we’re like, “Oh, my gosh. We’re gonna try to write a song for Grey’s Anatomy.”

And so we wrote this song, and before we knew it, it found a home with Little Big Town, and it just felt like the song immediately knew where to go. And it found a home with them, and they received it, and they recorded it. They killed it, it was awesome.

And they ended up being inspired to write the rest of their record from receiving the song. And so we, as writers, I don’t think it could’ve been any more of just a humbling, grateful, gratitude moment that we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives.

And then the album went on to be nominated for a Grammy during–

I don’t know, we just got together and we’re like, “Let’s write this weird brief for Grey’s Anatomy.” And look, look where she went. She went all over the place. But now she’s here in the chapel, and we’re gonna close out with it right now. It’s called “Next to You.”
