Now for election-related news at the state capitol. An Assembly committee voted to send a GOP measure to the full Assembly that would limit when presidential, state and local recounts could take place. Under the new bill only candidates who trail by 1% or less would be able to request a recount. Under the current law any candidate can request a recount regardless of the margin of loss. The bill would also limit the amount of time after a vote that a candidate has to request a recount.
