Real Midwives Pick Their Favorite Characters
(upbeat music) I think the funniest character is probably Sister Monica Joan. All those in favor, say I. She could really strike that balance between being serious, giving great advice, and being absolutely hilarious. One of the funniest people I find is Sister Monica Joan. -

Definitely Sister Monica Joan. She cracks me up. She always has these one-line zingers. I can't tell half the time if she's a little bit crazy or she's just super wise. These young girls are offerings to the fertility gods. Once they were to be sacrificed to them. (giggles) I love Chummy. I could identify sometimes with her awkwardness. I don't know how to turn. I forgot the last class. (women all squealing in unison) (soothing music) The sweetest midwife of the bunch, I think, is Sheila. One person that I definitely find really sweet is Sheila Turner. I'm a mum, Sheila. You've been a mother for a long, long time. She just has such a heart, and you can just see it in what she does. Her heart's on her sleeve. The sweetest is Barbara. I would love to be friends with Barbara, have tea with Barbara. Barbara Gilbert, she was such a loving, good character. She's perfect. (gasps) Yes, she is. (upbeat music) When you talk about fashion, you, of course, have to talk about Trixie, right? I don't know how anybody would say anybody else is. What's this, may I ask? A gorgeous jacket in a lovely shade of red. It's a fuchsia pink duster coat in shantung silk. Oh, Trixie is definitely the most fashionable. I'd love to go shopping with Trixie. (upbeat music) I really don't think I would want to choose. I'd want the universe to choose for me. Who I would want on my first birth? I thought Phyllis Crane. (mother gasping) Look what you've done. Here is your prize. She is a no-nonsense person. You would get those protocols down. Sister Julienne seems to have such wisdom and such compassion. I would love to have sister Julienne at my first birth. (upbeat music) The best mentor in the show, I think, Sister Julienne, only because she just seems to always have that wisdom on the tip of her tongue. As nurses, we care for others. To do that effectively, we must care for ourselves. -

Her dignity, her sensitivity. My door is always open. All you have to do is knock. I think Phyllis Crane. Nurse Franklin, good of you to bestow the gift of your presence upon us. She would make a really good mentor for a new midwife. Shockingly, I think Sister Evangelina because she is so no-nonsense, so knowledgeable. She'd be that person that you're afraid of until you get to know her, and then you realize how much you're going to learn from her. You mark my words. The joy of midwifery never dims. (upbeat music)
