My father-in-law was a rancher in west Texas, and I grew up on a ranch in west Texas.
APPRAISER
Where?

Out around Amarillo.
APPRAISER
I see.

And through the years he collected barbed wire. And when I joined the family back in the 1970s, I started helping him out with his collection, and he began mounting it on boards and putting it in a form like this in the '70s. And there's nine of these boards now, 146 kinds at this point, that we know about.
APPRAISER
Well, these are not particularly valuable as an individual item. They're worth $10 to $20 apiece. Of course you have nine panels of these, you said, so it sort of adds up. The great thing is, this is an important piece of Texas history, and it needs to be preserved.
