Appraisal: Mustache Cup Collection, ca. 1900
APPRAISER
Mustache cups were really popular from about 1890 to about 1910, because at that point, these big handlebar mustaches were popular with men. So the idea was to protect your mustache, you drank, from getting all soiled by the coffee or whatever else you were drinking. They were generally pretty expensive and they were made in Austria, made in Germany, made in France, and some of them were made in the United States. Your collection here of your father's, which is about a little over 50 sets, would be worth probably somewhere between $4,000 and $5,000.
