My father was a building contractor in Cedar Rapids for many years. I know he acquired the map from one of his contacts in town.

These county maps are just wonderful sources of history. The views of the factories and the homes. You mentioned Cedar Rapids, and of course this is a depiction of Cedar Rapids...

...as it was at that time. This whole county and beyond is now Cedar Rapids. When you look at an old map, you look at the date. Unfortunately, we have a little bit of a tear here, but it's done in 1869.

Often these maps are in terrible condition and it costs thousands of dollars to get them fixed.

I assume it has more historical value than monetary value.

Yeah, well, it's got some monetary value. I 'd have it for sale between $1,000 and $1,500.
