Borrowed Time
fiddle, guitar folksy music
On a high rocky ledge, where the wild wind blows From a little crack, an old oak tree grows Where it hides its roots, ain't nobody knows Looks like it lives on borrowed time Well it's twisted and bent, with its back to the wind It's been growing there, since God knows when And what prompted it to live a life so close to the edge? Guess it's got to live on borrowed time Borrowed time, borrowed time Pay the balance somewhere down the line All you weary wanderers Raise a glass of wine to borrowed time
fiddle solo
Suitcase and a sign on the north edge of town Waiting on a stranger to take me where I'm bound Goodbye all you goodtime friends, maybe see you round Looks like I live on borrowed time I was never born to ramble, I was never meant to roam The river is my front porch, the highway is my home So until they lay my rusty bones neath a churchyard stone Guess I'll have to live on borrowed time Borrowed time, borrowed time Pay the balance somewhere down the line All you dusty travelers Raise a glass of wine to borrowed time Borrowed time Pay the balance somewhere down the line All you dusty travelers Raise a glass of wine to borrowed time

tuning guitar
Flower Girl
folksy country music
Every day I see her there Selling in the market square Blackest eyes, chestnut hair Smiling so serene Standing there through all the hours With a pail of fresh-cut flowers Prettiest picture I have ever seen
kazoo flourish
Well she ain't rich, and I ain't either But I buy daisies just to please her Feel the sun and summer breeze Her smile seems to bring But when I try to talk to her I get shy and start to falter Wish I had the nerve enough to sing Oh, black-eyed Susan Can I kiss your two lips? Mend my bleeding heart And call me your sweet poppy Oh, forget me not That is my plea Til all the bluebells ring for you and me
fiddle solo
melodic buzzing of kazoo
quiet applause
Beggars have no way for choosin' So goodbye, my black-eyed Susan I can't bear to feel I'm losing Your sweet company Home and hearth, I have not any Ragged clothes, not a penny Who would every have a boy like me?
kazoo flourish
But maybe if the fates are kind I will soon my fortune find I'll return so rich and fine To seek my flower girl I'll ask her on my bended knee If she'd like to marry And sail away with me Around the world Oh, black-eyed Susan Can I kiss your two lips? Mend my bleeding heart Call me your sweet poppy Oh, forget me not That is my plea Til all the bluebells ring for you and me
melodic buzzing of kazoo

They're thieving. Oh, I got to play guitar now. - Yup. Grab your guitar. So we just-- we just finished making a new record and putting it out. We hired a band when we were doing it. So a few of the songs on the record, we didn't really know how to play after the record came out, without a band. So this is one of them but we did, we finally figured it out.
You Don't Exist
slow, folksy guitar music
You ask me how I know I won't see you again You want to know how I can be so sure Well let me tell it to you so you'll understand You'll be dead to me when you walk out that door You can't break my heart If you don't exist Because a man, who never was, never can be missed Your sweet words are unspoken and your kisses are unkissed Cause darling, you can't break my heart If you don't exist I don't have to wish that you were never born Don't have to curse the ground you walk upon I can't forgive you if there's nothing to forget And I can't call out a name I've never known You said that she meant nothing You said you could explain But to me you're just some old John Doe Who's found himself a Jane You can't break my heart If you don't exist Because a man, who never was, never can be missed Your sweet words are unspoken and your kisses are unkissed Cause darling, you can't break my heart If you don't exist
Yodeling
Yo da lay e tee oh hee Yo ho da lay e tee Yo da lay e tee de hee Yo ho da lay e tee You said that she meant nothing You said you could explain But to me you're just some old John Doe Who's found himself a Jane I used to think you were the lover of my dreams You came into my life out of the blue But if you came from nowhere you can go right back I'm gonna find a real man now that there's no you You can't break my heart If you don't exist Because a man, who never was, never can be missed Your sweet words are unspoken and your kisses are unkissed Cause darling you can't break my heart If you don't exist Cause darling you can't break my heart If you don't exist

All right, this one's called "Fools Were Made to be Broken."
run of guitar notes
Fools Were Made to be Broken
slow country music
I should have known you'd stray That's always been your way But I thought just once You'd treat my heart As if it mattered You are like a rock That has crumbled into sand I reach out to hold you And you slip right through my hand When it comes to you I have always been a fool And fools were made to be broken I'll take all the blame You'll leave me just the same One day in remorse You may look back To see it mattered I'll turn my heart away But remember, now and then Til you come back And fool me once again When it comes to you I have always been a fool And fools were made to be broken Fools were made to be broken

Well this next one is another one from our latest record. The title is too long to fit on the dust jacket. It's actually called "Come on Back and Break My Heart, Baby One More Time." And Nikki -- - Too long for the set list too. Nikki, Nikki always says there's two kinds of country. "Poor me" and "poor you." This one is definitely a "poor me." Ready? - Yup.
Come on Back, Break my Heart
uptempo country music
You said you was through with me Want no more to do with me Since you been untrue to me Life has been too blue for me I got something to say to you Get on my knees and pray to you I'll live every day for you If you change my skies from gray to blue Break my heart one more time The way you hurt me is divine You can run around, put me down, baby I don't mind Just come on back break my heart Baby one more time
fiddle solo
The way you love is bruising me You've been wiping your shoes on me Long as you keep choosing me I choose you abusing me I'll keep living this lie for you Keep on wondering why for you Fore I say goodbye to you I'm gonna lay right down and die for you Break my heart one more time The way you hurt me is divine You can run around, put me down Baby I don' t mind Just come on back, break my heart Baby one more time

Poor me.
strumming various notes
Yeah, we're jumping up and down. When you're a duo, you gotta have all the tricks lined up to keep things interesting and moving along. This one's called "Don't Think About Tomorrow Tonight."
Don't Think About Tomorrow Tonight
slow, solemn country music
I'm already gone You could tell, if you tried You could tell, if you listened To the doubts that you hide So let's stop pretending That it'll last forever When the truth is, I'm never coming back There's no one waiting for me, believe me I just need to find what's inside me So gently, softly, hold me beside you Don't think about tomorrow tonight Look at you now Your sad, tender eyes Your hair in your face Your shoelace untied Your warm, soft fingers Your breath, caught and held Your heart here, in pieces in my hand There's no one waiting for me, believe me I just need to find what's inside me So gently, softly, hold me beside you Don't think about tomorrow tonight
guitar solo
Years from now In some lonely place I'll take out your picture Study your face I'll remember this night And have another beer Ain't it funny how life just decides There's no one waiting for me, believe me I just need to find what's inside me So gently, softly, hold me beside you Don't think about tomorrow tonight Don't think about tomorrow tonight
cheers and applause
-Thank you so much Thanks for coming out and for having us. Watching us, those of you who are watching at home. We got one more for you. This is our little love song to the Ocooch Mountains which is where we live in Wisconsin. It's called "Ocooch Mountain Home."
Ocooch Mountain Home
I am dreaming of a little homestead A weary mile from here Just a farmhouse in the valley But to me so dear Cows are grazing in the meadow Sheep are in the fold Just one day of walking in its pastures Is more to me than silver or gold Take my hand and go with me ( Walk with me to the place beside the river ) Take my hand and go with me ( Sit with me beside the gently flowing stream ) Come and go to our Ocooch Mountain home We will plant a garden in the springtime Tend it tenderly Summer sit beside the river Neath the cotton tree Harvest bounty in the autumn A fire to keep us warm Fiddle playing in the parlor To keep us glad when winter blows a storm Take my hand and go with me ( Walk with me to the place beside the river ) Take my hand and go with me ( Sit with me beside the gently flowing stream ) Come and go to our Ocooch Mountain home
yodeling
Tee oh lay e, tee oh lay e, tee oh Ey de oh lay hee Tee oh lay e, tee oh lay e, tee oh Life has brought us many varied troubles Hard times are always by But it's also brought us gladness Boundless as the sky Now our wandering is over No more the world to roam We will spend our days together In our happy Ocooch Mountain home Take my hand and go with me ( Walk with me to the place beside the river ) Take my hand and go with me ( Sit with me beside the gently flowing stream ) Come and go to our Ocooch Mountain home
yodeling
Tee oh lay e, tee oh lay e, tee oh Ey de oh lay hee Tee oh lay e, tee oh lay e, tee oh Yo doe loh oh dee, de oh lay e day de oh lay e te Yo doe loh lay e tee Tee oh lay e, tee oh lay e, tee oh tee Thank y'all so much. - Thank you.
