From Lafayette, Louisiana, Feufollet is pushing Cajun music into new territory with each new album. The group’s 2011 record, En Couleurs, was nominated for a Grammy for best Cajun / Zydeco. The band’s latest effort, Two Universes, is every bit as strong; rocking hard but never abandoning their traditional Cajun roots. Songs from the hard rocking Two Universes are featured in this episode.

How's it going? We're Feufollet. We're from Lafayette, Louisiana. We're very happy to be here! We're going to do a waltz now. This is the title track of our new CD. Something called "Two Universes." (singing "Two Universes") Two universes Collided today And they merged As they met on their paths And everything that was changed By this mingling of brains Can't continue Forever To last For these two lonely worlds Can't remain as one For as two They were made And will stay But still they will yearn Continue to learn What was given And taken away And everything In this whole world Will return To how it should be And every singer Will still sing About broken hearts And every river Will flow to the sea Introspection consoles But events did unfold That provided For lumps in two throats But relief comes in swallows And the melody follows Notation Note after note Now my mind still races And time still paces And the days Still crawl slowly By But somehow I know I'll have nothing to show For time Spent wondering why And everything In this whole world Will return To how it should be And every singer Will still sing about broken hearts And every river Will flow to the sea And everything In this whole world Will return To how it should be And every singer will Still sing about broken hearts And every river Will flow to the sea (cheers and applause) Thank you! (clapping) One, two. (singing "Tired of Your Tears") I'm tired of your tears (twangy upbeat country music) I say right and you say wrong And then you cry all day long I'm tired of your tears (flddling melody) Maybe when snow falls in June Maybe when the sun sets at noon When 9 to 3 add up to 1 Maybe if, "maybe if" was set in stone Well maybe then, Maybe you'll be happy then I'm tired of your lies Say one thing and do another And then get mad when you're discovered I'm tired of your lies Maybe when snow falls in June Maybe when the sun sets at noon When 9 to 3 add up to 1 Maybe if, "maybe if" was set in stone Well maybe then, Maybe you'll be happy then (uptempo country music) (bouncy melody played in waltz time) I'm tired Of your game (plaintively fiddling melody) Say I'm the one not acting right Then pout and fuss from dawn 'til night I'm tired of your game Maybe when snow falls in June Maybe when the sun sets at noon When 9 to 3 add up to 1 Maybe if, "maybe if" was set in stone Well maybe then, Maybe you'll be happy then Maybe when snow falls in June Maybe when the sun sets at noon When 9 to 3 add up to 1 Maybe if, "maybe if" was set in stone Well maybe then, Maybe you'll be happy then (cheers and applause) Thank you guys so much! (clapping) All right, y'all, here's another one from the new CD. This is written by Philippe Billeaudeaux back here on the bass guitar, y'all! Something called "J'pris Dans La Vie Farouche" It means,"stuck in the wild side of life." (playing "Pris Dans La Vie Farouche") Chaque soire, EVERY NIGHT j'aprs marcher, I WALK AROUND Dans les rues IN THE STREETS mais moi tout seul, ALL BY MYSELF Mais moi j'connais, AND I KNOW j'sus blmer, I'M TO BLAME Pour tout a, FOR ALL THAT tout a qu'a arriv. ALL THAT HAS HAPPENED Tout les matins EVERY MORNING quand j'm'ai lev, WHEN I GET UP Je me lve avec I WAKE UP WITH un coeur cass, A BROKEN HEART C'est la vie, THAT'S THE LIFE que j'ai choisi, I HAVE CHOSEN Et j'connais AND I KNOW j'vas toujours la regretter. I'LL ALWAYS BE SORRY J'ai toujours cru, I ALWAYS THOUGHT que on avait eu, THAT WE HAD Une vie A LIFE tranquille, GOOD QUIET Mais asteure BUT NOW j'sus pris I'M CAUGHT UP dans la vie farouche, IN THE CRAZY LIFE J'connais j'vas AND I KNOW I'LL NEVER jamais retourner. GO BACK ('50s doo-wop-style instrumental music) (soulful music) J'ai toujours cru, I ALWAYS THOUGHT que on avait eu, THAT WE HAD Une vie A LIFE tranquille, GOOD QUIET Mais asteure BUT NOW j'sus pris I'M CAUGHT UP dans la vie farouche, IN THE CRAZY LIFE J'connais j'vas AND I KNOW I'LL NEVER jamais retourner. GO BACK Pendant la journe, ALL DAY LONG j'aprs pleurer, I CRY AND CRY J'aprs jongler I KEEP THINKING de moi et toi, ABOUT YOU AND ME Et moi j'connais, BUT I KNOW tu vas jamais, YOU ARE NEVER Et moi j'connais AND I KNOW vas jamais t'en revenir. THAT YOU ARE NEVER COMING BACK (cheers and applause) Thank you. (audience clapping) Now we're going to do another one from our newest CD. This one's called, "One Foot In My Door." One, two. One, two, three, four. (Americana-style music) You gotta keep more than One foot in my door Figure out just what it is You're looking for Well if I'm not enough To tie you down Don't stop in here On your run around You gotta keep more than One foot in my door Every time I need you You're gone Its just when you're all alone That I get a call Well, you drop me a line Like "baby I'm yours" Oh, but I know of course That isn't so Cause you never Keep more than One foot in my door You need to figure out just what it is You're looking for Well if I'm not enough To tie you down Don't stop in here On your run around You gotta keep more than One foot in my door Flowers and wine Were never your style Whiskey and a smile Is all I get Well I never cry Except over you But my tears would be through If you'd just say That you're gonna Keep more than One foot in my door And figure out just what it is You're looking for Well if I'm not enough To tie you down Don't stop in here On your run around You gotta keep more than One foot in my door (energetic keyboard melody) (cheers and applause) (energetic keyboard music) (singing "Know What's Next") Dance with me While our blood is flowin' While our youth is glowin' And shines with every step The motion is twistin' me around Liftin' me off the ground As I move with you But it's not like I know just what to do But it's cold at night When I can't dance with you So shake me Shake me when it's real Don't you let me feel Like I know what's next And tell me You'll only dance with me And that you really see What's right In front of us And heal me And tell me to my face That time is just a race That we can win And it's not like I know just what to do But it's cold at night When I can't sleep with you So shake me Shake me when it's real Don't you let me feel Like I know what's next Like I know what's next Like I know What's Next (cheers and applause) Thank you very much, y'all! That one's called, "Know What's Next" (clapping) We got one more song. Thank y'all so much! It's been a lot of fun. All right, we'll see you next time. (Kelli laughing) (guitar strumming) I've been in this town so long That back in the city I've been taken for lost and gone And unknown For a long long time Fell in love years ago With an innocent girl From the Spanish and Indian home Of the heroes and villains Once at night Catillian squared the fight And she was right in the rain Of the bullets That eventually brought her down But she's still dancing in the night Unafraid of what a dude'll do In a town full of Heroes and villains Stand or fall I know there Shall be peace in the valley And it's all an affair Of my life With the heroes and villains (French accordion plays melody) My children were raised You know they suddenly rise They started slow long ago Into tough, healthy, wealthy, and wise At three score and five I'm very much alive And I've still got the jive to survive With the heroes and villains Well, I've been in this town so long So long to the city I'm fit with the stuff To ride in the rough And sunny down snuff I'm alright By the heroes and... (song changes to a minor key) Heroes and villains Just see what you've done Heroes and villains Just see what you've done Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah Nah... (vocalizing) Whoop! (Crescendo) (playing melody energetically) (audience cheering and whistling) (cheers and applause) Thank you. (audience) Whoo!
