Where Are They Now: 30-MMH Edition

Okay, it’s not like we’re about to hop aboard the way-way back machine and take a look at PBS child stars from the ’80s. Sorry, maybe next time.
I just wanted to give an update on a band we were lucky enough to book for the 30-Minute Music Hour – JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound.
Back in January 2011, the Chicago-based group performed a soulful set of tunes in the WPT studios. And just last month, JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound released their sophomore album.
While hints of their soul revival sound linger, the band’s new album “Howl” has a slightly darker, more contemporary sound – evident in the video for “Rouse Yourself” which features Parks & Recreation’s Aubrey Plaza. Read a more eloquent review of the new album.
JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound is in the midst of an aggressive summer tour schedule that includes stops at Milwaukee’s Summerfest and Appleton. Come out for one of those shows, and of course, take a trip back in time to check out the band’s 30-MMH performance.
