Transmission Issues in Madison Broadcast Area
December 1, 2014 Leave a Comment
UPDATE: If you are experiencing problems receiving WPT’s signal, WPT engineers recommend that you rescan the channels on your digital TV tuner. If that doesn’t fix the issue, please contact WPT’s Audience Services staff at [email protected] or 800-422-9707.
Are you experiencing over-the-air (antenna) WPT reception problems in the Madison area?
We are aware that some viewers who receive their television signals over-the-air using an antenna are not able to view any of our channels at this time. Cable and satellite viewers are not affected by this transmission issue.
We are working to resolve this issue and apologize for any frustration or inconvenience.
We hope to resolve this as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience this causes you.
We will update this space as work continues by our engineers, including when a resolution has been reached and the issue has been fixed.
In the mean time, if you wish to watch WPT programs online, please visit video.wpt.org to explore a vast catalog of full-length WPT and PBS programs and click here to watch an online stream of the Wisconsin Channel.

We are new to the area (Madison- west side), and are unable to get PBS. We have no issues with any other stations. I have rescanned a few times. Do you have any suggestions for me? Thank you.
Bryan says:
Our house in Fitchburg (Fish Hatchery & Cheryl Drive) has been without your signal for over a week now. All other over the air signals continue to work fine as before. Suggestions???
Rebecca DuBey says:
After 2 days without WPT I decided to rescan the channels, and it worked! Thank you so much for the post about the problem. In our house we love you guys and the wonderful work you do.

I could not get PBS from 2 p.m. yesterday afternoon. I missed the recap of Downton Abbey at 8. It was very upsetting. What was the problem?
