Watch Prohibition at 7 p.m. Sunday, October 2 on Wisconsin Public Television.
Make sure you tune in for all three parts of this amazing documentary from Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. The five-and-a-half-hour series covers prohibition from its earliest days to its eventual fall in the early 1930s.
It’s hard to imagine how something like prohibition would have ever come into being in the United States. May that’s just my perspective from living in Wisconsin my whole life, but it seems like if the government tried to outlaw alcohol nowadays, they would be met with even strong resistance.
Luckily, no such thing is in the foreseeable future. So all of us are free to sit back with our favorite cocktail or micro-brew and enjoy a weekend of good ‘ol American football.
