Henry Ford American ExperienceThere’s plenty to love and hate about Henry Ford.

For giving us the assembly line and the automobile, he’s hailed as the most influential American innovator of the 20th century. But he’s also notorious for being an anti-Semite, and a bully to his workers and his own son. Though I will say Ford is not widely known for being a dance instructor. This Tuesday, American Experience paints an elaborate portrait of Henry Ford’s life and career, as one newspaper headline puts it “warts and all.”

You can get a sense of Ford’s complex character in the first 12 minutes of the film, available for preview below. Watch the full presentation of Henry Ford: American Experience on-air or online 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29.
