A Chef’s Life is one of my favorite cooking shows for a ton of reasons: the story immediately draws you in, the production of the show is always top-notch, and the visuals are creative and compelling. Eastern North Carolina seems stunningly beautiful – it makes me want to pack a bag and take a trip south immediately.

Most of all, I love A Chef’s Life for its honesty. Its host, chef Vivian Howard, brings an amazing spontaneity and intimacy to the storytelling. Whether Vivian is with her mother, sisters or co-workers, you get to see the very human side of Southern culture and cuisine. The whole cast and crew seems like a family, brimming with energy. One of the videographers, Josh Woll, even shared this behind-the-scenes look at some of his experiences.

So whether you’re looking for a new recipe or just to be carried away in a great story, check out A Chef’s Life on Wisconsin Public Television. You can see the next episode at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 21. If you’re new to the show, you can also catch up online!
