Sheriff Dale Schmidt:
I'm asked about it when my election comes up. What are you doing, Sheriff, to be able to reduce the amount of overdose deaths in our county? And my response to that is we do a lot of things for treatment, education, enforcement, to try and bring light to the issue and try and reduce those overdose deaths. We're doing everything we can with treatment courts, but there's only so much that we can do. We need help from the federal government. We need to stop that flow at the source, and that really is that southern border. And I'm hopeful that people get out, they see what's been going on over the last three and a half years, the nonstop flow. Four years ago and beyond that, we had never had a person who had supported law enforcement as much as Donald Trump. And we just haven't seen that same support since President Biden has taken office.
