The Hostas, Hydrangeas and Hyacinths are in hair and make-up standing by to go LIVE from the floor of the Garden & Landscape Expo 2019 – this Saturday, Feb. 9 right here on wpt.org! We’re extending a slice of our midwinter oasis to your laptops, tablets and smartphones as we livestream five of our expert-led and plant-packed seminars and demonstrations from the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
There’s nothing like being at the Alliant Center to breathe in all things fresh and green with our astonishing community of Wisconsin gardeners, growers and landscape lovers. Outdoor Insect Hazards: Biting and Stinging Pests and What to Do About Them
It doesn’t take long to bump into mosquitoes, ticks, wasps and other creatures outside that can ruin outdoor activities and pose risks to people and pets. In this seminar, PJ Liesch of the UW-Extension Department of Entomology will take a closer look at arthropods that bite or sting . . . and what you can do about them!

The Story of Alice’s Garden
Venice Williams is the Executive Director of Alice’s Garden, a two-acre, urban community garden in Milwaukee’s Lindsay Heights Neighborhood. The garden offers a space for people to learn how to grow and cook their own healthy organic food and provides necessary green space in an urban community. Venice will present the story of Alice’s Garden, as well as her top 10 herb picks for every garden.

Scientists continue to gain greater understanding of the relationship between biology and plant mineral availability. James “Sandy” Syburg of Purple Cow Organics in Middleton explains how this new understanding can impact your garden’s soil health, crop health and ultimately human health.

The Straight and Narrow of Plant Material
Does limited space in your garden beg for a right-size option? Paul Ganshert of Ganshert Nursery & Landscapes in Fitchburg
will review the many options available in plant materials that tend to be narrow or dwarf as well as other new plant options for small spaces.
