Viewers’ Choice

Love it or hate it, we’re in the midst of our August Membership Drive. (Lovers, keep reading to see what’s on tap for the weekend). If you’d prefer that we just show regular programs rather than pledge specials, simply look to video.wpt.org to find full-length episodes from PBS and WPT. Whichever camp you’re in, please consider making a donation to support the great programs we bring you all year long.
Now if you’re still reading, it means you’re interested in what’s coming up during our viewers’ choice weekend. Don’t fret, there was no survey or questionnaire. We always schedule the latter half of pledge drive based on the programs that have received the most calls here in Wisconsin and at member stations around the country.
Leading the way is 60s Girl Grooves. This compilation of classic girl group performances has been our most swinging show of the drive with many of you calling in to show your support and get the companion DVD and CD.
Shelter Me also returns for an encore presentation. Already an endearing show, we made it even more memorable by inviting local service animals into the studio that illustrate the impact these amazing pets have on people right here in Wisconsin.
We’re also bringing back Downton Abbey Revisited, which offers a rare look at the cast and crew of the year’s most popular show. This time around, you’ll be able to pre-order Season 4 on DVD when you support Wisconsin Public Television.
The behind-the-scenes drama continues with Inside Foyle’s War. This is the super sleuth’s first time on public television in a long time and it’s a precursor to an all-new season that begins Sunday, Sept. 15 on WPT.
One last thing, then I’ll let you back to browsing through our online video library. Monday night – the final night of the membership drive – features a special broadcast of Shakespeare Uncovered “Hamlet With David Tennant”. American Players Theatre’s very own Hamlet will join us in the studio (hopefully he brings the skull!) to discuss the notoriously challenging role.
Whatever you decide to watch. Thank you for reading and for supporting quality shows on Wisconsin Public Television.
