If I only got cheers like that at home.

Hey everybody!

Thank you.

Welcome to Sound The Bells. It is a pleasure to be with my friends from the United States Army Field Band.

These Soldiers behind me, they go out and they connect with communities all across this great nation, with people just like you and me, through the universal language of music.

And they remind us that our military is out there serving on our behalf and that this country, it's worth defending.

Now, this is my fourth year hosting Sound The Bells now, and you are in for a treat this afternoon.

And we are so pleased to welcome back the incredible and angelic voices of Baltimore's own Singing Sensations Youth Choir.

So, sure.

[APPLAUSE] So it's a pop quiz, and the first question is a real easy one.

Are you in the holiday spirit?

Whether it's ice skating at the Inner Harbor or strolling through the snow-laden Patterson Park, or sipping some hot cocoa on the Washington Monument as it's all lit up for the holidays.

We could go on and on about the great things here in Baltimore, but there is a soloist here, Christmas is a little different for her.

Our next soloist grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, where a 100 degree Christmas is not rare.

But it never stopped her from celebrating the season.

Here to tell us all about her Winter Things, please welcome Sgt.

1st Class Kyra Dorn.

It ain't even cold outside, not where I'm from Feeling like it's mid-July under the sun My jacket don't get no love No hats and no gloves Not even a chance to rain But my baby's in town And we're gonna do some winter things Hey eh eh Hey-oh, I wanna pretend we're at the North Pole Turning the heat into an ice-cold holiday Made just for me and my baby Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh My baby's in town and we're Gonna do some winter things, hey Take me to the ice skating rink Downtown (no, no, no, downtown) Even though it's 100 degrees, gotta get out, ohh Ain't no ice or no chills No snowmen to build Most of our friends at the beach But my baby's in town And we're gonna do some winter things, hey yeah Hey-oh, I wanna pretend we're at the North Pole Turning the heat into an ice-cold holiday Made just for me and my baby Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh My baby's in town and we're gonna Do some winter things, hey, yeah Just imagine that we're laughing In the cabin, chilling by the fireside Even though the sun is blasting We can be wherever if we visualize Hey-oh, I wanna pretend we're at the North Pole Turning the heat into an ice-cold holiday Made just for me and my baby Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh My baby's in town and we're gonna Do some winter things, hey, yeah La-la-la [Applause] [ ] Go, tell it on the mountain Over the hills and everywhere Go, tell it on the mountain That Jesus Christ is born While shepherds kept their watching O'er silent flocks by night Behold throughout the heavens There shone a Holy light Go, tell it on the mountain Over the hills and everywhere Go, tell it on the mountain That Jesus Christ is born The shepherds feared and trembled When, lo!

Above the Earth Rang out the angel chorus That hailed our Savior's birth Down in a lowly manger Our humble Christ was born And brought us our salvation That humble Christmas morn Go, tell it on the mountain Over the hills and everywhere Go, tell it on the mountain That Jesus Christ is born Go, tell it on the mountain Over the hills and everywhere Go, tell it on the mountain That Jesus Christ is born Oh!

Who ya gonna tell?

Gonna tell somebody Who ya gonna tell?

Gonna tell somebody Gonna tell your momma!

I mean, we're impressed every single time.

Now here's something even more impressive.

They don't know this, so don't go telling them.

I got a little secret.

All of them, each and every one, are on Santa's nice list.

They made the nice list.

It's amazing.

So now the spotlight is on you.

Reflect a little bit.

Remember, Santa is in the house right now.

So is the Army.

Have you been nice, or have you been I don't know, a little naughty?

Now we have a way to tell and so why waste any more time?

And let's just see who's been naughty and who has been nice.

Yes you!

You are nice.

It surprised you.

This shouldn't be surprising.

Nice list, I love it.

Who else do we have here?

Who's on the nice list?

Get off the phone Sir, you're on the nice list.

Now listen, all the time there are nice people there are also some naughty people.

Aww don't blame the beard!

We had to.

I love the beard, man.

But you did something, so naughty list.

[laughs] Also, there might be others on the naughty list, I presume.

Yes.

I'm sorry Auntie.

You made the naughty list this year.

Listen, you got next year.

We can plan.

She's on the naughty list?

Hey.

I'm sorry.

I did not choose these.

You are not, you are not on Naughty List.

Listen, you have time to make things better.

Get her off.

She's not on naughty list.

There we go.

Someone nice.

There, much better.

Yes, don't be so shocked.

You have plenty of time to change things around if you need to.

Oh, wait.

He's, I'm sorry, sir.

You're not.

No way.

He's got way too many stripes for me.

Listen, we'll move on, because I'm.

I'm scared of him.

Did you know the Army and rock and roll have a long-standing relationship in the North Pole?

This is true.

In fact, the holiday classic, the [uh] Run, Run Rudolph?

Well it was written as part of a running playlist when Rudolph was training for the Army Ten-Miler.

This is not a lie!

It is true.

And this thing is, sadly, you know, Rudolph he suffered from shin splints in mile four.

I mean, it was really sad.

He was setting a record pace.

It's amazing!

I mean, he was blazing through he gets the end and people are like, Rudolph, like, who is training you? What Preakness thoroughbred got you to run so fast? And Rudolph sort of limped and he says, no, no, no training necessary.

I was elf-taught. See the joke?

See, the joke is, see?

So it's usually self-taught. I took the s off and made it elf-taught. [drum fill] The joke was better yesterday, honestly.

So let's move on and get rid of me here.

I bet you have never heard Carol of the Bells quite like this.

[ ] [ ] [ ] [Applause] [ ] [ ] Hark how the bells Sweet silver bells All seem to say Throw cares away Hark how the bells Sweet silver bells All seem to say Throw cares away Christmas is here Bringing good cheer To young and old Meek and the bold Ding, dong, ding, dong That is their song With joyful ring All caroling One seems to hear Words of good cheer From ev'rywhere Filling the air Oh how they pound Raising the sound O'er hill and dale Telling their tale Gaily they ring While people sing Songs of good cheer Christmas is here Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas On, on they send On without end Their joyful tone To ev'ry home Hark how the bells Sweet silver bells All seem to say Throw cares away Christmas is here Bringing good cheer To young and old Meek and the bold Ding, dong, ding, dong That is their song With joyful ring All caroling One seems to hear Words of good cheer From ev'rywhere Filling the air Oh how they pound Raising the sound O'er hill and dale Telling their tale Gaily they ring While people sing Songs of good cheer Christmas is here Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas On on they send On without end Their joyful tone To every home On on they send On without end Their joyful tone To every home Ding dong Ding dong Bohm!
