Teen Connection examines provisions of the new Concussion Safety Bill. Viewers will hear from current student athletes who experience headaches, memory loss and other symptoms, all the direct result of multiple concussions. Former Green Bay Packers playerMark Tauscher and Packers Team President Mark Murphy explain why they are strong proponents of the new law.

The Concussion Safety Bill, signed by Gov. Scott Walker this month, is aimed at protecting children from critical injuries stemming from multiple concussions. The law states that athletes under the age of 19 that are involved in organized sports and suffer a possible concussion are not allowed to return to play until they are cleared by a health care professional. Wisconsin became the 32nd state to adopt a concussion law, which also requires coaches and parents of athletes to read and sign information about the dangers of concussions.

Richland Center High School student Brock Rosenkranz will be featured on the program. Rosenkranz suffered 10 concussions over three years and still suffers headaches, memory loss, depression, and insomnia and takes medication for his symptoms.

This episode features a panel of guests, including a male high school student who has suffered concussions in sports and a female athlete who now attends Brillion High School. The panel will also include Licensed Athletic Trainer Sheila Jonet and Sports Medicine Director James Ebben, both of Bellin Health in Green Bay.
