Finally, another example of how hope is often not enough when it comes to addiction. Cassandra Nygren is the daughter of State Representative John Nygren, who authored the HOPE agenda to deal with opiate addiction after this daughter became hooked on heroin. Cassandra and her boyfriend were arrested this week and face two counts of reckless homicide for delivering the drugs that leads to the overdose death of a woman and her unborn child. In other state news, the University of Wisconsin System is overhauling the UW’s two-year colleges and UW-Extension. The proposed changes would merge the 13 two-year colleges with near-by four-year system schools. System President Ray Cross says, “This is in response to declining enrollment in the two-year colleges, which primarily serve rural areas.” Wisconsin Public Television is part of UW-Extension. The plan will move us under the UW System administration here in Madison, but this will not impact our on-air programming.
