The day that marks 155 years since the last enslaved people in the United States learned they were free, Juneteenth has particular significance in the wake of protests for racial justice and an end to systemic racism. This year, Juneteenth is commemorated with a freedom rally in Madison and the flying of the Juneteenth flag over the state Capitol.
