Wisconsin Look: The Stockbridge-Munsee community hopes the court will stop Ho-Chunk expansion of their facility in Shawano County, saying it violates the Ho-Chunk's compact with the state. The Stockbridge-Munsee have a casino nearby, and say the Ho-Chunk expansion will have a "crippling effect" on revenue.But state officials say a 2003 deal that former Gov. Jim Doyle reached allows the expansion.

Now for an update away from the state capitol. The Stockbridge-Munsee tribe asked a federal judge Wednesday to block the HoChunk from expanding an existing casino saying the expansion violates the HoChunk’s compact with the state. The HoChunk Nation is looking to add slot machines to its Wittenberg gaming facility in Shawano County. But the Stockbridge-Munsee have a casino nearby and they say the expansion would have a crippling impact on its revenues. The tribe filed a lawsuit against the HoChunk and the state but state officials say a 2003 deal that former Governor Jim Doyle reached allows the expansion.
