Frederica Freyberg:
Well, the new year will bring a new health resource to rural Wisconsin. A program that employs nurses to provide basic healthcare for farm families is expanding in 2014. Nurses check blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels, along with screenings for other health risks. The rural health initiative helped more than 500 people in the first nine months of last year. Nurses currently make farm visits in Shawano, Outagamie and Waupaca counties in central Wisconsin. In the coming year, nurses will expand their services to Marathon County.
