But first, the secret John Doe investigation into Wisconsin’s recall elections is no longer secret. Thursday a federal appeals court judge released documents relating to the probe, including prosecutor’s contention of a criminal scheme involving Governor Scott Walker. Described in the documents is an allegedly wide-ranging scheme to illegally coordinate fund raising with groups such as the Wisconsin Club for Growth, national groups and players like Republican strategist Karl Rove. The documents were released as part of the ongoing lawsuit trying to stop the John Doe investigation. Shortly after the release, Governor Walker had this to say of allegations of a criminal scheme.
Scott Walker:
People can say or do whatever they want. I think to me an objective, third party, separate branch of government, the judiciary of both the state and federal level, have made it clear that they felt there wasn’t a case here. To me it’s one of those things where you can get other people speculating about things like that, but in the end, people who are in the judicial process, again, objective, removed, separate branch, from me or the legislature, made it clear at the state level and at the federal level that they did not believe there was a case made here. The federal level even told them to stop.

The US district judge who is overseeing the federal lawsuit and the circuit court judge who is overseeing the John Doe investigation have ruled against the prosecutors. Both decisions are under appeal. As for whether he emailed Karl Rove telling him of the coordination campaign as documented by prosecutors, Walker says he can’t imagine that.
