Before we close tonight, we want to wish best of luck to the Wisconsin Badgers as they take to the court this weekend. The basketball hoopla has overshadowed another court contest, the race for Wisconsin Supreme Court, to be decided by Tuesday’s election. So in the spirit of March Madness, here’s wisconsinvote.org producer Andy Soth’s guide for your election day game plan.
Andy Soth:
“Wisconsin Vote” presents keys to your vote. Number five: The players. The Wisconsin Supremes are seven tested veterans who don’t always see eye to eye when they interpret state law and hear appeals. Number four: The bench. Getting benched is good in a court race. On Tuesday, newcomer James Daley challenges long-term veteran Ann Walsh Bradley for her spot. Number three: The scouting report. Use “Wisconsin vote” to dig deep on the candidates’ records and statements to research your voting choice. Study tape from debates and interviews. Number two: The Rules Committee. On today’s court the most senior member is automatically Chief justice, but this election puts that under review by referendum. Voting yes means wanting the Supremes to elect their own. Vote no to keep it the same. Number one: The vote. While you may be out late Monday, celebrating a Wisconsin win, lace up the sneakers and head to your polling place, which you can find through Wisconsin. After all, determining the future of the state’s highest court is another way to show your Badger pride.
