For his part, Governor Evers was not able to join us for this program. His administration is under fire this week from Republican legislative leaders for taping a phone meeting about a COVID-19 plan. At a media briefing on Thursday, Evers said a staffer wanted the recording for note taking, and he did not know about it. He said the practice has ended. He says he doesn’t believe that matter should stall talks on police use of force and systemic racism.
