Thank you for coming to my house.
My name is Lorenza And I come from Oaxaca.
We have customs and celebrations.
On Day of the Dead, everyone goes to another town to shop.
Flowers, candles, fruit.
I learned to value the ancestors.
And open my door to all who have died.
We have the tradition of bread for the dead.
And we decorate it with little faces.
They are the sign of the bread for the dead.
My mom likes the big breads.
"You have to put out four breads, daughter."
"Because others accompany me" "And they can take some back with them" The arrival of Day of the Dead is very important.
Most of all, for uniting the family Knowing you're going to eat a lot.
Honoring your roots, your history.
It's part of your identity Why do I follow the tradition?
Like my parents said, "The body goes, the spirit stays."
"The spirit does not leave."
"And I will always be with you."
Last night a mockingbird came to my window Last night a mockingbird came to my window With its melodious voice kindly asked With its melodious voice kindly asked If it could accompany me Singing until dawn The mocking bird told me, "I see you very lonely" The mocking bird told me, "I see you very lonely" A lady like you needs to be accompanied A lady like you needs to be accompanied Sing it with all your heart so we can create a harmony [Tapping shoes] "Listen well to my advice", said the mockingbird."
"Listen well to my advice", said the mockingbird."
Never silence your voice always sing with fervor Never silence your voice always sing with fervor Let your singing resonate Your singing of love [Audience cheering] Thank you.
How is everybody at the caverns feeling tonight?
[Audience cheering] Celebrating... this beautiful Day of the Dead.
Thank you for having us, it's an honor to be here with you.
[Audience clapping] Today I'm lost in a memory I go suffering Because you are far from me I don't understand the reason why you had to leave, I beg to heavens To be able to live with this gray story.
Where can you be?
(Where can you be?)
Come back now (Come back now) I can't take it anymore (I can't take it anymore) so much waiting (so much waiting) Some kind of uncertain love, so much illusion you created in me Now you take all, every piece of my heart Where can you be?
(Where can you be?)
Where can you be?
(Where can you be?)
Come back now (Come back now) I can't take it anymore (I can't take it anymore) so much waiting (so much waiting) Uncertain love, so much illusion you created in me Now you take all, every piece of my heart [Audience cheering] Thank you.
[Audience cheering] This next song... Is a song I wrote called, "Let Down."
I like to start this song acapella normally but today is extra special because we are in a cave.
And I've never sung in one before.
Have you?
Yes you have, you've been singing all night long, right?
So now we can all say that we've sung in a cave.
Your love was never more than an illusion I thought belonged to me and to you I was gold you saw at the bottom of, at the bottom of the stream You were content knowing it was there and always, always would be as long as you could hold for a second before it slipped free I can't blame you entirely I was well aware that she had a part of you to keep But you came and tried to force and you didn't let love take its course I can't give you my heart because I can't share yours I can't say you let me down any less than I any less than I let you down I can't say you let me down any less than I any less than I than I let you down oooo-oooo, ooooo oooo-oooo, ooooo This love of yours This love of illusion That it wasn't, that it wasn't meant to me In the dark bottom of the creek, it was me I was shining like gold in the bottom It meant peace to you knowing it was there, it will stay there you must learn to take it when everything is going to slip everything is going to slip I'm not blaming you I knew well what you kept, she is part of you.
but you crossed the line you made an effort I can't give you my heart because I can't share yours.
I can't say you let me down any less than I, any less than I let you down I can't say you let me down any less than I, any less than I let you down [scat singing] [scat singing] Oh, I can't say you let me down any less than I, any less than I let you down I can't say you let me down any less than I, any less than I let you down [Audience cheering] Thank you so much!
We would like to invite a very special guest to the stage David Hidalgo, everybody!
[Audience cheering] They call me the mezcalera because I sing all night long Bewitching the people on the street Until dawn I keep on, keep on dancing with beloved spirits I swear by a thousand agaves that my love is at the bottom Mezcal kisses the mescaline goes up Mezcal kisses the adrenaline lights up Mezcal kisses the mescaline goes up Mezcal kisses the adrenaline lights up Look, there is only one type of kiss that unleashes my secrets If you dare to get close I'll reveal that mystery one single kiss will take you to the edge of the universe And you'll never ever forget the affection that I have for you Mezcal kisses the mescaline goes up Mezcal kisses the adrenaline lights up Mezcal kisses the mescaline goes up Mezcal kisses the adrenaline lights up Let 's get down!
Mezcal kisses (Tiki-tiki-tiki Ta-Ta) Play with my love Provoke the tiki tiki Curious and seducer Mezcal kisses (Tiki-tiki-tiki Ta-Ta) Play with my love give me a quiet kiss so we get hot Mezcal kisses the mescaline goes up Mezcal kisses the adrenaline lights up Mezcal kisses the mescaline goes up Mezcal kisses the adrenaline lights up Heeyyyy!

We are Flor de Toloache!
Happy Day of the Dead!
Happy Day of the Dead!
[Audience clapping] Thank you so much.
These flowers call the spirits.
The spirits arrive.
By the smell.
It's like the movie Coco.
Same with the incense.
By custom, 12 noon is the entrance of the spirits.
And everything has to be ready.
The tamales, everything to make them happy.
My mom liked the little Cokes.
My dad likes his Diet Pepsi.
My dad would say, "When I go, don't forget my gum."
"Don't forget my Pepsi."
Dad liked red mole.
And my mom liked black mole.
But my mom's black mole is not sweet.
I just put in sesame seeds and raisins, because she doesn't like it.
The next day at 12 noon, Is when you walk with the spirits for them to leave.
Careful, don't fall.
We want this tradition to continue.
That we in Oaxaca value so much.
There in Borinquen It's so beautiful Holy land, pure land.
I went there to win a fortune A good, precious, oh so sweet Let's go to dance Hey, Maricela Let's enjoy this black bomb.
Let's go to dance Hey, Maricela Let's enjoy this black bomb.
In the island of enchantment I'm proudly singing to you With its hills and with its saints It gave me pleasure Let's go to dance Hey, Maricela Let's enjoy this black bomb.
Let's go to dance Hey, Maricela Let's enjoy this black bomb.
In the island of enchantment I'm proudly singing to you With its hills and with its saints It gave me pleasure Let's go to dance Hey, Maricela Let's enjoy this black bomb.
