Christmas at Westminster: An Evening of Readings and Carols
(triumphant music) Nowell, Nowell Nowell, Nowell Born is the king of Israel I wonder (pensive music) As I wander out under the sky How Jesus the savior did come for to die For poor ordnry people like you and like I I wonder as I wander Out under the sky Wandering wandering Wandering wandering When Mary birthed Jesus 'twas in a cow's stall Wandering With wise men and farmers and shepherds and all But high from God's heaven, a star's light did fall And the promise of the angels It did then recall Lullaby, lullaby If Jesus had wanted for any wee thing A star in the sky or a bird on the wing Or all of God's angels in Heaven to sing He surely could have had it Cause He was the king Wandering wandering Wandering wandering I wonder as I wander out under the sky How Jesus the Savior did come for to die For poor ordnry people like you and like I I wonder as I wander Out under the sky - Light a candle in darkness and pierce the gloom.
Light a candle in shadows and love fills the room.
Light a candle amid sadness and stars come to birth.
Light a candle on Christmas and Heaven draws near to earth.

When I was very young and had no trouble believing wondrous things, I believed in the star.
It was a wonderful miracle, part of a long ago story, foretelling an uncommon life.
They told me a super nova appeared in the Heavens in its dying burst of fire.
When I was older and believed in science and reason, I believed the story of the star, explained.
But I was unwilling to give up the star, fitting symbol for the birth of one, whose uncommon life has been long remembered.
The star, explained, became the star, understood, for Jesus, for Buddha, for Zarathustra.
Why not a star?
Some bright star shines somewhere in the Heavens each time a child is born.
Who knows what it may foretell?
Who knows what uncommon life may again unfold, if we but give it a chance?

To find the lost, to heal the broken, to feed the hungry, to release the prisoner, to rebuild the nations, to bring peace among the people, to make music in the heart.
