Speaking of state budgets, in our Wisconsin Look our state is one of the few without one two weeks into the new fiscal year. The sticking point is transportation funding. Senate Republicans have mostly fallen in line with Governor Walker’s demand for no new taxes or fees. Instead they want to borrow more than $700 million to keep construction projects on course. But Assembly Republicans, led by Speaker Robin Vos, say it’s more conservative to pay as you go than to borrow. If there is no new revenue, there should be no new borrowing.
