Dan Parsons: Yes, we are Minor Gold, folks. Thanks for coming and checking us out. We really appreciate that. We are coming to you from Queensland, Australia. And we’re a long way from home.
[audience applauding and cheering]
But we feel right at home here in Appleton, Wisconsin. Wis-cahn-sin.
[all laughing]
Tracy McNeil: And this is our very first U.S. festival ever. So we’re really proud.
[audience applauding and cheering]
We’ve played together for many years in different things, but never written together, so we’ve got a long history of singing together and playing together, but writing is a very new thing for us, so Minor Gold’s a very new project. But we’ve got a long life of playing together, which kinda makes it easier.
Dan Parsons: And the writing, the writing is the most important thing to us. Like, guitar is cool, singing is cool, but, like, the song is the most important thing.
“Mona Lisa” by Minor Gold
[gentle acoustic guitar music]
Looking at the stars, I saw a face I thought it was the Mona Lisa
Everywhere I turn I feel your eyes on me But I can never reach ya
Now I’m not sure what I’ll find Between our laughter lines
Ah you
You shine like gold when you’ve won You found your place in the sun Ain’t it good for everyone
You
You break the ice beneath my feet When you’re on a losing streak You know you’ve just been beat You can’t turn the other cheek
I’d find the words to say if I could know That you would take them as I meant them
I thought I saw a smile or something kind Maybe I just dreamt it
And I’m not sure what I’ll find If I dare to cross that line
Ah you Shine like gold when you’ve won You found your place in the sun And ain’t it good for everyone
You
You break the ice beneath my feet When you’re on a losing streak You know you’ve just been beat You can’t turn the other cheek
Looking at the stars, I saw a face I thought it was the Mona Lisa
Looking at the stars, I saw a face I thought it was the Mona Lisa
[audience applauding and cheering]
Dan Parsons: Being on the road for a long time, like, you have, like, you have good nights and bad nights. It’s like, you know, 50/50. But, like, coming to a festival like this, like, every night seems to kind of be like, just like a treasure.
Tracy McNeil: Yeah.
Dan Parsons: It’s great.
Tracy McNeil: Yeah, it’s great. People are, like, up for it and they just give you that energy back. Whatever you put out, they give right back.
Dan Parsons: Yeah.
Tracy McNeil: And it just keeps the fire going. It’s, yeah, we’ve been so, so lucky. Yeah, love it.
Dan Parsons: Stoked.
“Way With Words” by Minor Gold
[groovy acoustic guitar music]
You can wake me from a bad dream Tied to tracks on the silver screen But I ain’t living in a movie You help me to believe
When my world’s going under You pull me into your thunder The sands shifting from below me You help me to believe
‘Cause you got a way with words
When the night is never ending You can make it like a slow dance Got me living in the moment You help me to believe
When I’m tired of being down, don’t wanna give up Everybody’s saying what I got ain’t enough Tired of this game and no way to win You help me to believe when I’m falling again
‘Cause you got a way with words
‘Cause you got a way with words
From the bottom of the well I pour the richest cup For a love I know so well For a love I can’t give up
‘Cause you got a way with words
‘Cause you got a way with words
Got a way with words Tired of being down Don’t wanna give up Everybody’s saying what I got Ain’t enough Got a way with words Tired of this game And no way to win Yeah You help me to believe When I’m falling again Got a way with words You help me to believe Got a way with words You help me to believe Got a way with words You help me to believe Got a way with words You help me to believe
[groovy acoustic guitar music]
[audience applauding and cheering]
Tracy McNeil: It’s so great to meet other artists and hear what’s going on, ’cause it helps build, like, a beautiful network when we’re touring.
Dan Parsons: Yeah.
Tracy McNeil: It’s just fantastic, and you get inspired by all the other stuff that’s going on. It’s been really, really great.
[guitar strumming]
Dan Parsons: Hey.
[audience laughing]
Good to see ya. This is such an honor. We’re just stoked to be here, so thanks for having us. We appreciate that.
Tracy McNeil: Our first U.S. festival, and you’ve set the bar so high.
[audience applauding and cheering]
Dan Parsons: One, two, three, four.
“Moonlight Silver Highway” by Minor Gold
[gentle acoustic guitar music]
Moonlight silver highway I find you in my dreams In the half-light shadow and the sleepy drone You’re keeping me company
Moonlight silver highway It hasn’t even been a year You burned so heavy, but you lost the light Like a broken chandelier
Keep moving out of range Trying to turn a page Look at something different Feel a little change But the tide keeps pulling me in
Moonlight silver highway Slowly making ground But every day in our father’s face It feels like you’re still around
Moonlight silver highway Never gonna say goodbye Wanna put you my pocket and just pretend I’m keeping you alive
Keep moving out of range Trying to turn a page Look at something different And feel a little change But the tide keeps pulling me in
And I’m trying to leave this town once again
[groovy folk music]
Keep moving out of range Trying to turn a page Look at something different And feel a little change But the tide keeps pulling me in
Keep moving out of range Trying to turn a page Look at something different But everything’s the same And the tide keeps pulling me in
Yeah, the tide keeps pulling me in
And I’m trying to leave this town once again
Moonlight silver highway I find you in my dreams In the half-light shadow and the sleepy drone You’re keeping me company
[audience applauding and cheering]
Dan Parsons: Thanks, y’all.
Tracy McNeil: Thank you.
